CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell) therapy is a cancer treatment in which the patient's own T-cells are extracted and genetically engineered in the laboratory to express an artificial receptor (CAR) that recognises a specific protein on the surface of cancer cells. After expansion, the CAR-T cells are infused back into the bloodstream where they seek out and destroy cancer cells. The therapy has shown significant efficacy in certain hard-to-treat blood cancers. China is currently one of the countries with the highest number of CAR-T procedures performed globally, with centres such as GoBroad Healthcare Group leading the field.
