Shanghai June 2026 Exhibition Guide + Premium Health Services for International Business Travelers

August 06, 2026

A guide to Shanghai's major June 2026 expos across NECC, NEW and SWEC — plus how to combine your business trip with a premium health checkup at nearby international hospitals.

Understanding Shanghai's Exhibition Geography

Two Venues, Two Cities

Unlike Beijing's concentrated exhibition district, Shanghai's trade shows split across massive venue complexes in opposite directions from the city center. Understanding this geography is essential for scheduling both expo visits and medical appointments.

  • NECC (National Exhibition & Convention Center) — Hongqiao District (west); nearest airport Shanghai Hongqiao (SHA), 5 km; about 14 km west of People's Square.
  • NEW (Shanghai New International Expo Center) — Pudong District (east); nearest airport Shanghai Pudong (PVG), 22 km; about 16 km east of People's Square.
  • SWEC (Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center) — Pudong District (south); nearest airport Shanghai Pudong (PVG), 20 km; about 11 km southeast of People's Square.

Critical planning note: NECC (Hongqiao) and NEW (Pudong) are about 30 km apart by road — a 45–60 minute drive during peak hours. If your itinerary includes both, allow a full day between them. Schedule all NECC activities in one block and all NEW activities in another.

Hospital proximity advantage: Both Jiahui International Hospital and SinoUnited Health (Lujiazui clinics) are in Xuhui and Pudong districts, most convenient for NEW venue delegates. NECC delegates benefit from proximity to Shanghai East Hospital (Pudong campus) and Shanghai United Family Hospital (Changning). MedTourChina coordinates all transfers regardless of venue.

Why Combine Your Shanghai Expo Visit with a Health Checkup

Shanghai offers international business travelers a rare combination: world-class hospital infrastructure in the same district as major venues, English-speaking specialists with international training, and pricing that undercuts comparable services in Singapore, Dubai or Europe by 40–70%.

  • Scheduling flexibility: International hospitals (Jiahui, SinoUnited Health) offer Saturday appointments. Early morning slots (7:30–8:00 AM) let you finish screening before the expo floor opens at 9:00 AM.
  • Venue-to-hospital proximity: NEW delegates benefit from Jiahui International Hospital's Pudong location, just 5 km away. NECC delegates can access Shanghai United Family Hospital in Changning, 8 km away.
  • Comprehensive one-stop diagnostics: CT, MRI, ultrasound, endoscopy and full laboratory services under one roof — your executive checkup, cardiac screening and gastroscopy can be completed in a single half-day.

Health Services for International Exhibition Delegates

1. Executive Health Checkup

Best for all June delegates, especially SNEC, MWC, CPHI and CSITF attendees. Duration 2–4 hours. Starting price USD 450 (standard comprehensive) / USD 800–1,500 (premium executive).

Standard checkup includes: complete blood count (CBC) with differential; comprehensive metabolic panel; fasting glucose + HbA1c; full lipid profile; thyroid function (TSH, Free T4); hepatitis B & C screening; tumor markers (AFP, CEA, CA19-9, PSA for males 40+); urinalysis and stool occult blood; abdominal and thyroid ultrasound; 12-lead resting ECG; low-dose chest X-ray; physician consultation and English report.

Premium checkup adds: cardiac stress test (treadmill ECG with Duke score); coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring via low-dose CT; carotid artery ultrasound; H. pylori breath test; abdominal-pelvic CT; bone density (DEXA); comprehensive eye exam; ENT screening.

2. Gastroscopy & Colonoscopy

Best for delegates 40+, family history of GI cancers, chronic digestive symptoms or H. pylori positive. Duration 4–6 hours (prep + procedure + recovery). Price USD 500–700 (gastroscopy alone); USD 1,000–1,500 (combined upper + lower GI). Preparation: liquid diet on prep day; bowel prep solution the evening before.

Shanghai's international hospitals offer high-definition white-light endoscopy with narrow band imaging (NBI) to detect early-stage cancers invisible under standard light, combined with sedation so patients sleep comfortably through the procedure.

3. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Therapy

Best for post-flight recovery, stress, neck/shoulder tension and insomnia. Duration 45–90 minutes; price USD 40–150 per session. Options include acupuncture (jet lag, headache, stress — USD 40–80), electroacupuncture (chronic pain — USD 50–90), Tuina therapeutic massage (back/shoulder soreness — USD 40–90), cupping (muscle recovery — USD 25–50), and TCM herbal formulas (sleep, digestion, immunity — USD 60–150). Venues include Jiahui Hospital's TCM department, Longhua Hospital Shanghai and SinoUnited Health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I have events at both NECC and NEW in June. How do I schedule a checkup?

A: Focus your appointment on one venue cluster. Book your checkup during whichever cluster fits your schedule — Jiahui for NEW, Shanghai United Family for NECC. Never commute between venue and hospital in the same day during peak periods.

Q: Can I get my health report in English?

A: Yes. Jiahui and SinoUnited Health produce English reports as standard. Key findings are reviewed during a same-day consultation; detailed lab and imaging reports follow within 24–72 hours as PDFs.

Q: What's the H. pylori test and should I request it?

A: The Helicobacter pylori breath test is a simple, non-invasive check for the bacteria that cause stomach ulcers and raise gastric cancer risk. Recommended for Asia travelers over 35, especially with acid reflux, gastritis or family history of stomach cancer. Cost about USD 30–50 as an add-on.

Q: How do I prepare for gastroscopy if attending the expo the same day?

A: Possible but requires careful timing. Book the earliest slot (7:30–8:00 AM); the procedure takes 15–20 minutes and recovery 1–2 hours. Most patients are discharged by 11:00 AM. We still recommend a non-expo day for maximum comfort, especially with a colonoscopy.

Q: Is Shanghai safe for solo female travelers?

A: Shanghai is one of China's safest cities for international visitors. Both venues have good hotel options nearby. Our Full Service Package includes a female-friendly coordinator option and private transfers.

Q: How far in advance should I book?

A: During peak months (June, October, November), book 7–10 days ahead. Same-week bookings are possible but availability cannot be guaranteed. Contact +86 177 4202 6990 or info@medtourchina.net.
