Bone and Joint Health: Protect It Early
April 21, 2025
Strong bones and flexible joints are the result of habits built up over many years.
Bones and joints are the frame supporting the body throughout life. Bone health is largely built in youth and maintained through movement, nutrition and lifestyle.
Calcium and vitamin D play important roles for bones. Vitamin D is partly synthesised when skin is exposed to sunlight, so sensible outdoor activity is also beneficial. Foods such as milk, small fish eaten with bones, and greens provide calcium.
Weight-bearing activity such as walking and light jogging helps stimulate stronger bones. Conversely, prolonged inactivity is not good for the bone and joint system.
General information. Joint pain or concerns about osteoporosis should be assessed by a professional.
