Preventing Dengue: It Starts With Eliminating Larvae

Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease that often rises in the rainy season across many parts of Vietnam. The mosquitoes lay eggs in standing water around the home, so controlling water sources is the core preventive measure.

Simple actions include covering water containers tightly, emptying standing water in flower vases and old tyres, and changing vase water regularly. Removing breeding sites is far more effective than only killing adult mosquitoes.

Personal protection includes sleeping under nets, wearing long clothing and using repellent when needed. Dengue-carrying mosquitoes are often active during the day, unlike some other mosquitoes.

General preventive information. When a high fever persists, go to a health facility for assessment.
