Active Post-Treatment Cancer Care — Effective Relapse Prevention

July 10, 2026

Cancer treatment does not end at discharge. Active post-treatment care — regular monitoring, nutrition and timely follow-ups — plays a crucial role in relapse prevention.

## Why Active Care Matters

Many cancer patients tend to skip follow-up appointments after completing their main treatment course, especially when there are no obvious symptoms. However, some cancers can recur silently before clinical symptoms appear. Early relapse detection through regular tumour marker tests and imaging significantly improves prognosis.

## Standard Follow-Up Schedule (Reference)

- First 3 months post-treatment: follow-up every 4-6 weeks - Months 6-24: every 3 months - Years 2-5: every 6 months - After 5 years: annually (varies by cancer type)

## Nutrition and Lifestyle

Adequate protein intake, limiting refined sugars and processed foods. Light physical activity suited to your condition. Sufficient sleep and stress management. Do not take supplements, herbal remedies or folk medicine without consulting your doctor.

## HomeMed's Role

HomeMed helps connect post-treatment patients from China with follow-up doctors in Vietnam and translates test results to send to the Chinese medical team when needed.
