Cetuximab (Erbitux) — Anti-EGFR Monoclonal Antibody for Colorectal Cancer
July 07, 2026
Cetuximab targets EGFR, inhibiting tumour cell proliferation in KRAS/NRAS wild-type colorectal cancer. Learn about its role and indications in treatment in China.
## EGFR Targeting
Cetuximab (Erbitux) is a monoclonal anti-EGFR antibody that binds to the extracellular domain of EGFR and blocks cell proliferation signalling. It is most effective in colorectal cancer patients with no RAS mutations (KRAS/NRAS wild-type).
## Indications
Used in: advanced colorectal cancer (combined with FOLFOX or FOLFIRI in RAS wild-type patients) and recurrent or advanced head-and-neck cancer (combined with chemotherapy or radiotherapy).
## In China
Full RAS testing (KRAS/NRAS exon 2-4) is mandatory before Cetuximab use at Chinese oncology centres. International colorectal cancer patients travelling to China for treatment should bring genetic sequencing results to save time.
## Disclaimer
Information is for reference only. Indications depend on RAS test results and physician assessment.
